Good Evening,
I recently came across a bit of information that I am trying to sort out
against the information I already have for my DANIEL family of Burke County,
GA. Robert DANIEL, some say Robert C. DANIEL or DANIELL, (ABT 1765-AFT
1830) was married to a Penelope (1773-1846). That much is certain, because
I have her 1846 obit from the Southern Christian Advocate.
From this obit it seems that Penelope and Robert moved to the 65th
Militia District, Burke County, GA about 1812 from NC. Many, if not all, of
the later collateral links in this family point right back to Pitt County,
NC.
It was only recently that we found a deed in which Capt. Robert Lanier
DANIEL (1718-1794) was listed as Robert DANIEL, Sr., hence that seems to
indicate there was a Robert DANIEL, Jr. in this family, but he may not have
actually been a Junior and they only used the Senior to differentiate him
from his son. However, the Robert C. DANIEL that I see later in Burke could
well have been Robert L. DANIEL, Jr. and the census taker had rather bad
handwriting or did not take the information, correctly - who knows almost
200 years after the fact. Regardless, all indications I have is this Robert
of Burke may well have been a son of Robert Lanier DANIEL of Pactolus, Pitt
County, NC.
I then looked around Capt. Robert Lanier DANIEL in the 1790 Pitt County,
NC census and the CASONS were all over him, especially a John CASON. Then,
I did a little research and found that a John CASON was married to a Eleanor
PINCKETT, they say and they had an Fnu daughter who married a Robert DANIEL.
Bingo.... However, knowing all of my Charleston, SC connections in this
overall family, I do wonder if this Eleanor was a PINCKNEY and not a
PINKETT.
Regardless, does anybody on the list know this CASON family? John was
supposedly a son of a William CASON out of Isle of Wight and a wife who was
a CANNON and John died in Burke County, GA in 1816. Thanks, in
advance......
