Hi John
Thanks for your thoughts. No, I haven't been able to get access to the 1851
(though I do have some of the indexes), in fact, I've only been able to find
2 of the married daughters in the 1881 census (because I pretty much knew
where they would be anyway), can't find William & Mary Ann at all, so they
have probably been transcribed as some God-awful variant. For a relatively
rare name, they have been really difficult to track down. Unfortunately, all
my family seem to have been boringly normal & lawabiding, and with little
money, so they haven't left many traces on the records.
I have only just joined the list, in hopes that someone recognises strays
from their own researches.
Regards
Doreen

Looking at your site you have got back to William Cason born about 1790.
He
could well have been born in Essex or Suffolk where there were
several
Cason
families. There was a considerable migration of population into
London
during the 19th century due to rural poverty and those coming in from
Essex
and Suffolk were most likely to end up in the East End of London.
Have
you
found the family in the 1851 census?

I believe that William's father & grandfather were also
called William.
Can
anyone break the brick wall I'm at?
