Janet,
it is a pleasure to hear from you.
Thomas Cason the Emigrant is my 8th. Great Grandfather. My 3rd. GGrandfather Willis Cason
Sr.[ R. S.] moved from S.C. to Ga. about 1790.
Thomas Cason the Emigrant of Ware, Hertforshire, England was baptized in 1608,
according to the Hertforshire Parish Register. Thomas Cason was the son of John Cason of
Ware, Hertforshire, England
On Dec. 21, 1620, Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower went ashore for the first time at
present-day Plymouth, Mass.
Thomas Cason "The Emigrant" arrived just 15 years later. Just stop and think of
the extreme primitive conditions these settlers faced.
Thomas Cason the Emigrant left England and landed about 1635 at Lynn Haven Parish, Lower
Norfolk Plantation, Virginia this area is now known as Princess Ann County, Virginia
Beach, Virginia.
In 1635 Thomas the Emigrant made an affidavit that he was born in 1604.
Thomas was an educated man of some substance and must have been well thought of in his
community. He served his church the Anglican Church as Church Warden [ Church Clerk ] this
was at a time when only about 1 or 2 out of every hundred people could read or write.
