I'm descended from Thomas and Margaret Neil CASON as well, through their son John and
his wife Polly (BURCKHALTER) CASON. I'm afraid I haven't got anything other than
the "Brief Memoir" on Margaret NEIL, except that Thomas and Margaret are both
buried in Liberty, Union County, Indiana. I can probably fill in some of James and
Margaret's children for you, but I haven't got anything on her family aside from
what's in the biographic sketch from the Boone County, Indiana, book either.
I'm very interested in learning more of Margaret Neil's family. The name is
intriguing to me (is it perhaps Neill?). It's also interesting to note that the name
"Neal" appears once or twice in the Indiana branch of the family, although that
may also be due to the friendship one of Thomas' grandsons (US Rep. Thomas Jefferson
CASON, R-IN) had with Judge Stephen NEAL in Boone County. Judge Neal wrote the original
draft of the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, and was a colleague of
Cason's on the bench in Boone Co. I think that's the source of the name in our
family, but my dad believes it's a tribute to Margaret (NEIL) CASON.
If you're interested, I can check my FTM files to see what I have on James and
Margaret's line, and give you some other possible contacts for further information,
but only on the condition that you let me know if you're able to turn up anything on
Margaret Neil's family!

Subject: Re: A Brief Memoir of Thomas Cason and Family
I am a descendant of Thomas and Margaret Neil Cason. I have quite a bit of info.on Thomas,
but nothing on Margaret, except for what is in the "Brief Memoir" which I have a
copy of also. My G.G. Grandparents were James and Margaret Rutherford Cason and Frederick
and Mary Sutton Bennett.
I live in SC and was so surprised to discoverthat I now live only about 40 miles from the
part of the state where the Casons lived.
Any info. on either of the 2 Margarets would be greatly appreciated.
