Message Board Post:
I am looking for information on Carrie CASON (1893-?) and the Cason family of Lee County
and Macon County, AL. All I know if that Carrie married Frederick/Fred
BUCHANAN/BUCHANNON/BUCHANON/BUCKHANNON/BUCKHANNAN (1884-1964), the son of Luck and Moriah
Buchanan of Macon County, AL. Their children were:
- Fredrick, Jr. (1910-?)
- Alsie (1912-1986)
- Benarita (1915-?)
- Carrie (1916-1996)
- Palmer (1918-1984)
- Willie (1921-1999)
When I first started searching, I found Alsie's death certificate. Alsie's
informant reported that his mother's maiden name was Swain, which seemed to fit
because I found a marriage license of Fred Buchanan that married a Carrie Swayne in Macon
County. I went with that for years and traced the family line. It wasn't until I found
Palmer's death certificate and saw that his informant reported that his mother's
maiden name was Cason. I finally asked a family member who stated that they believed that
Carrie's maiden name was Cason. Well, I have found no burial information on Carrie
even though I am told that she died within six months of Fred's death in 1964 in Lee
County. How can I be absolutely sure one way or another of Carrie's maiden name. I
have found Fred and Carrie together with their children but I want to be sure that I am
tracing the right family branch. Please help.
