You must be familiar with the family I am trying to find out more about. James Cason of
VA b. 1758 d. 1842 married Rebecca Smith. James served in the Rev. War in VA so I assume
he came from there to Jackson Co., TN. He is buried on his land with a DAR stone, the
rest being field stones. When he died he had three surviving children. One child, James
who did not survive his father might be the one who is my ancestor. My 3rd g grandfather,
Joshua Pemberton m. Harriett Cason in Wilson Co. 1832. After two children, she died. Her
parents are supposed to be James and Elizabeth Pettus Ragland Cason. One of Joshua's
sons was an infant when Harriet died and was raised by close relative Hugh and Martha
Patsy Pemberton Carlen in Jackson Co., TN. There are still Casons, Raglands, and Carlens
in Jackson Co., but I can't find the info from those recommended to me. Records in
Jackson Co. burned 1872. Joshua Pemberton did go to court in Wilson Co. in 1844 to claim
guardianship of!
his sons through Harriet (one living in Jackson Co., the other with him, I think). They
were named heirs of James Cason. This is why I'm wanting to check this Jackson Co.
James Cason Sr. out. Two years after his death is not an unreasonable time to claim
inheritance. James Sr. is to have had a son James, but I don't know when he died.
