Please let me explain that only the male carries the Y-chromosome that is passed from
father to son, from generation to generation. Women don't carrier this chromosome but
can have a relative, father, grandfather, uncle, brother tested. The results of a DNA test
will indicate that person is in effect related to a surname and when and where they may be
connected to that family line and to which family line they are connected.
If you don't have a male relative member that can test you still can do an mtDNA. The
mtDNA test only the female side of a family but this test will not indicate your male
surname side of the family. The company that runs the test will give the participate the
results of the test with names and email addresses to others they matched up with, you
then can contact them for more information.
Our DNA testing has provided some interesting results. We now know for sure that there are
two lines of Cason in the United States, both come from the United Kingdom. These two
lines are not related genetically but have the same surname. DNA proves who belongs to
which line. Along with the paper trail of ones family line and DNA test a lot of issues
about where one is connects has been resolved.
If you do wish to Y-DNA or mtDNA test please join our
casonsurnameproject.com as the price
of testing is reduced by joining a group project rather than individual testing and it
allows you to be part of a group project.
If you don't wish to have or can't test you can still join the Cason one-name
study / Cason surname project. I can then try to assist you with your family line. Those
projects are free to join.
You may contact me at my email address if you need further assistance or question.
