Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

--- 1st Generation ---

--- 2nd Generation ---
2. James Lee Cason Ph.D was born on February 22, 1922 in Shongaloo,
Webster Parish,
Louisiana. He was called "Jim" by his friends and family. He served in the
Aleutian
Islands, Alaska, in a weather forecasting unit of the U.S. Navy during
World War II. He
married Georgia Jewel Spivey, daughter of William Benjamin Spivey and Mary
Eliza Meeks, on
March 16, 1946. He and Georgia Jewel Spivey had 2 children. He received a
Bachelors of
Science Degree from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, Ruston, Louisiana, in
1948. He earned
a Masters Degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan,
in 1950. Between
1950 and 1953, James Lee Cason Ph.D. taught and did research at the
University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. He received a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition
from North
Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1956. Between 1956
and 1959, James
Lee Cason Ph.D. was teaching and doing research at Rutgers University, New
Brunswick, New
Jersey. He was employed by the University of Maryland, College Park,
Maryland, between
1959 and 1970 in the Dairy Science Department. He helped Maryland dairymen
improve their
herds and facilities. For a while, he hosted a radio show about Dairy
Science. He attended
the county and State Fairs as a judge of dairy cattle. He retired in 1992
from
Northeastern Louisiana University, Monroe, Louisiana, where he worked for
twenty-two years.
During part of this time, he was the Head of Department for the
Agriculture Department. He
died on December 11, 1994 in Homer, Louisiana, at age 72. He was buried in
1994 in New
Ramah Cemetery, Millerton, Webster Parish, Louisiana.
--- 3rd Generation ---
4. James Kyle Cason was born on March 9, 1893 in Blackburn, Louisiana. He
also went by
the name of Dock. He was nicknamed "Dock" because, as a child, he rode
with his uncle, who
was a doctor, on house calls. He was enumerated with Eula Jency Adkins on
the census of
April 23, 1910 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, as "James K. Cason". He was
listed as a
single, white male of age 17 who could read and write. He had attended
school in the prior
year. His occupation was given as farm laborer on the home farm. Both he
and his parents
were shown as born in Louisiana. His relationship was listed as son. He
lived between 1917
and 1969 in Shongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana. He married Amy Lee,
daughter of Robert
Elias Lee and Mary Jessie McKenzie, on March 24, 1917 in Shongaloo,
Webster Parish,
Louisiana. James Kyle Cason is head of household on the census of January
31, 1920 in
Webster Parish, Louisiana, as "James Cason". "He was listed as a married,
white male of
age 26. His birthplace was given as Louisiana and both his parents were
also born in
Louisiana. His occupation was listed as a farmer of a rented farm which
was listed as farm
schedule 258". Enumerated with him were Amy Lee and Mary Dimple Cason. He
died on
September 21, 1969 in Shongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana, at age 76. He
was buried in Old
Shongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana.
--- 4th Generation ---
8. James Webb Cason was born on June 11, 1866 in Minden, Webster Parish,
Louisiana. He
married Eula Jency Adkins, daughter of Zaccheus Franklin Adkins and Mary
Melissa McKenzie,
on December 8, 1887 in Louisiana. He lived in Webster Parish, Louisiana.
He died on April
10, 1910 in Blackburn, Louisiana, at age 43.
--- 5th Generation ---
16. James Elijah Cason was born on May 13, 1827 in South Carolina
according to one source.
He was born in 1833 in South Carolina according to the 1850 Census. He
married Mary
E. McDonald, daughter of Peter McDonald and Martha Lavinia Coon. He died
in 1867.
--- 6th Generation ---
32. Michael Smith Cason was born between 1792 and 1793 in Anson County,
North Carolina,
according to one source. He may have been born between 1793 and 1800 in
"Carolina"
according to another source. He married Nancy Edwards, daughter of Simon
Edwards, in South
Carolina. He and Nancy Edwards had 9 children. They moved to Claiborne
Parish,
Louisiana, before 1840. He appeared on the census of 1850 in Claiborne
Parish, Louisiana.
He married Polly Martin on November 11, 1855. He and Polly Martin had no
children. He is
thought to have died on April 1, 1878 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. He
was buried in the
Cason Cemetery on the Blackburn-Leton road, Louisiana. The Blackburn-Leton
road crosses
from Claiborne Parish into Webster Parish. The location of the Cason
Cemetery along this
road is unknown. It is also said that the graves are unmarked.
--- 7th Generation ---
64. John Cason Jr. was born in 1756 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He
married Sidney
Fields, daughter of Smith Field, circa 1790. He died on September 2, 1834
in Anson County,
North Carolina. He was buried in Cason Old Field.
--- 8th Generation ---
128. John Cason was born circa 1730 in Virginia. He married
Susannah (--?--). He died before 1766 in Hanover County, Virginia.
--- 9th Generation ---
256. Edward Cason was born circa 1710 in Virginia. He married Joanna
Butcher, daughter of John Butcher and Mary Tap. He died in 1785.
