Several of us with Casner ancestors would like to add to our knowledge
regarding Adam Casner of Pendleton Co., VA. We've pooled our research
findings and prepared the attached summary of primary information and
sources for Adam. We invite any other researchers to contribute findings so
that we may gain a better understanding of Adam's life history. Please
summarize information from any additional sources and send it to Bob
Saunders saundersrj(a)earthlink.net .
In addition to gathering additional information about Adam, we're trying to
answer two questions:
(1) Were Adam Casner and Vandal Benjamin Casner (b. 1771, VA; m. Elizabeth
Hill; d. 1845, OH) brothers?
(2) Was Benjamin Casner (b. ca. 1802, VA; m. Margaret Coffman; d. ?) a son
of Adam?

***Deed, Pendleton Co., VA, 23 Dec. 1817 (Vol. 7, pp. 84 and 85; FHL
#808,713) - "In consideration of services done to him and his wife and his
future maintenance during his natural life..." John Casner grants to Adam
Casner "....146 acres on the mountain between the South Branch and South
Fork." The first tract contains __ acres, which is part of the land granted
to Jacob Goodman by patent and conveyed to John Casner by deed 5 July 1790.
The second tract contains 28 acres granted by patent to John Casner. Wit.:
Henry Mallow [written in German], John G. Miller and George Mallow.
Signature of John Csteririn? [looks like it is written in German]. Proved 4
April 1818 by John G. Miller, Henry Mallow and George Mallow.
Comment: This is the deed that implies a father-son relationship.

Comment: 1836 is the last year Adam is listed in the tax records. It
coincides with the date of his will and his probable year of death

Adam Casner and Hannah his wife to George Casner and Lavina his wife for
$448. Parcel of land lying on south Fork Mountain and adjoining Adam's
lands on the northeast. It being part of an old tract Adam got from his
father containing 54 acres. [No witnesses.] Adam and Hannah signed by mark.
