Message Board Post:
I found a NY State census for 1825. It listed a bunch of Caslers.
I'm pretty sure my John Keller married to Catherina Casler are seen on page 30 which
is German Flats. They were married 1823 and already had one baby son named Michael by
time of the census. When comparing to the 1820 Federal census, it appears that John may
have moved into a house formerly occupied by Fredrick Keller because in 1825, the name
Fredrick disappears. We think that Fredrick Keller may have gone to Canada as there is a
marriage certificate in the 1830's for him in that country. We think that maybe
Fredrick may be an older brother to our John Keller married to Catherina Casler. We think
that the other Kellers(mistakenly written as Heller) on page 30...Michael and Casper, are
also brothers to our John and to Fredrick.
Page 30 must have been "in town" and not farming land because John was listed as
not engaging in farm work.
So these are the names of the Caslers on page 30 of that 1825 state census:
John M. Casler
Robert Casler
On page 28 are: (German Flats)
Jacobus Casler
Nicholas Casler
Peter B. Casler
Richard Casler
Richard C. Casler
Richard H. Casler
Richard M. Casler
Richard P. Casler
On page 27 are: (This is German Flats also)
Abraham Casler
Frederick Casler
John Casler
John P. Casler
Lana Casler
Markes Casler
Nicholas, Jr. Casler
Richard J. Casler
Rudolph Calser
Page 31 is:
John Casler
On page 35 live Conradt, David, William, Rachel Casler
On page 58 lives Jacob Casler
On page 37 lives John and Peter Casler
Does anyone out there have a handle on any of these groupings of Casler? If so, please
email me here or at piec@execpcpm
Thank you.
