My ggg grandfather was James Dixon Caskey born 1803 in Lancaster District and died around
1876. Is there a relationship between your John I Caskey and my James Dixon Caskey? a
son? nephew? Cousin?
By the way, on another website
genealogy.com, someone wrote there were several versions of
the surname "Caskey" (I am not surprised, are you?). For example, in Ireland -
McAskie, Scotland - McCaskie, McCaskey, etc. Also, during my research (of only 4 years) I
know many of our Scot-Irish ancestors moved back and forth between Scotland and Ireland,
therefore, I would not be surprised if the spelling of their last name, Caskey as we know
it, changed during their lifetime depending on where they were living.
