My Caskeys were from the Warriors Mark Area of Huntingdon County, namely GEORGE, born 1798
- died 1838, who married Catherine MILLER. Their children were - Male born 1835,
John?
Nancy, 1828
Mary, 1830
Jeremiah, 1834
Abendego, 1837
There were other Caskeys in the area around 1800. The 1810 Census for Franklin Twsp,
Hunt. Co. shows a John Caskie. Believe he was the father of George, and also a James who
appears on the tax rolls in 1815 as a single freeman.
In 1801 in Centre County, Bald Eagle Twsp found a John Casky .
In 1801, Potter Twsp, Centre Co. there is a John McCaskey. In 1804-05-06 the name
appears as John Caskey, and a James Caskey appears as a single freeman. Baptisim records
for Potter Twsp, Centre Co. show Eliza, William and David, children of John Caskey in
1803.
Also the 1790 Census for Huntingdon Co. lists a John Caksy.
I believe these are all the same family.
My ancestor, Jeremiah Caskey, died in the Civil War. His brother, Abendego, settled in
Clearfield Co. after the War, as did his sister, Nancy, who married Job Sneath. Have not
been able to find a trace of Mary or of the eldest son of George Caskey.
If anyone has info on this family, would appreciate hearing from them.
