Although I'm not an expert at genealogy, I did learn a few lessons when doing my
husband's family tree. All four of his grandparents came over from Russia like Morris
Cashman. The most important lesson I learned was to locate and order every record I
could find on every one of the immigrants. You never know which document will provide a
new piece of the puzzle. I talked to our Aunt Betty today, at 91 the oldest living
family member. She is the daughter of Eva Cashman-Cooper. She didn't know about any
New York cousins.
I also create a timeline just to get the facts organized. Here is what I have on your
Cashman/Packman line:

Jan 1964 - Morris Abba Cashman dies in NYC. Social Sec No. 130-10-5613
Oct 1974 - Millie Cashman/Packman dies in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Found this little
story on Ancestry: He was a quiet, kind, soft-spoken man, with a heavily pock-marked face.
About 1926 he became the manager of the Lerman Bros. store in Carrollton, Kentucky, a
town on the Ohio River, between Louisville and Cincinnati. What he had done between 1921,
when he arrived in America and 1926 I don't know. In 1928 he married Millie Cashman,
a handsome but shrewish woman who lived in New York. She did not like living in a small
Kentucky town and spent much of her time in New York, where Leon eventually joined her.
He died in 1970, she four years later. - Martin Packman
