I was in Lexington a few years ago at the Archives I got some really good Naturalization
records which helped me with my research, your families were prob. naturalized so they
could vote.
My brother was born in Waltham just down the road from Lexington. My Irish ancestors on my
fathers side were all in Waltham & Newton. A few years back Waltham did an Ethnic
history and they had dinners on different night for ethnic groups such as Irish, Italian,
Swedes and so on and they told stories about their ancestors and shared pictures. I found
out that most of the people in my fathers neighborhood came from the same place in Ireland
Tuam, County Galway, Ire. and another bunch which came from another section of Waltham
came from Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ire. these people really clustered. So if you hit
brick walls trying to get back in Ireland you might check out your ancestors neighbors in
Plymouth and Ashburnham.
My mother & I were born in Jamacia Plain, MA.
If you can think of others to look up let me know. Before I joined NEHGS I used to go up
to the Mass Archives in Dorchester but it was very hard to find them in the indexes
because they had common names like William McCarthy there were loads of them in the Boston
area now I can do it from home.
