Sarah Cashon's will April 23rd, 1761
In the name of God Amen, I Sarah Cashoon of the County of Chesterfield Parish of Dale
being possessed of perfect sense and memory thanks be to God do make this my last will and
testament. I recommend my soul to God that gave it and I recommend my body to the Earth
in Hopes of a blessed resurrection at the last day and for disposing of my temporal estate
wherewith God has been pleased to bless me I do dispose as followeth.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Bevil the bed and furniture of bedstead
whereon I now lie and my side saddle and a young heifer which she choose a (unreadable)
one to her and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Phebe Perkinson my mare and spice mortar and box iron
to her and her heirs forever.
I give to my daughter Phebe my washing tubb.
My will and desire is that my cattle of hogs maybe equally divided between my three sons,
James, Thomas and William at there one and (unreadable) to them and their heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my son James Cashoon my three sheep to him and his heirs forever
also my pan and skillet to William Cashoon.
I give and bequeath to my son William Cashoon my chest and chairs and all my wooden
moveables as I can dispose of to him and his heirs forever.
I give to my Grandson, David Cashoon my pot and hooks to him and his heirs forever. I
give to my granddaughter, Mary Cashoon my trunk and pine table to her and her heirs
forever. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sarah Cashoon my second pot and hooks to
her and her heirs forever.
I desire my pewter maybe divided between my two sons, James and Thomas
to them and their heirs forever.
Also I give to my daughter Sarah Cole two pounds credit in a store, also four yards of
(unreadable) and my cloak.
I give to my granddaughter, Jemina Cashoon one pound.
My desire is that all my wearing clothes maybe divided between my four daughters,
Margaret, Elizabeth, Sary, and Phebe. My desire is that all the residue of my estate and
my debts may be divided between my three sons James, Thomas and William. I constitute and
appoint my son James and Thomas Cashoon executors of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of April, 1761. My
desire is my estate may not be appraised.

To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we James Cashion and Ann
Cashion as well for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which we have
for our son Burrell Cashion and for the consideration of five shillings currant money of
Virginia to us in hand paid we have given granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed and
by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto our said son Burrel
Cashion and his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcil of land lying and
being in the county of Chesterfield whereone he now lives containing fifty acres be the
same more or less beginning on Thomas Pucketts line on a black oak from thence a new line
along my land to a white oak on William Cashoons line thence along Willian Cashoons line
to a Spanish Oak on Thomas Cashoons line from thence along his line to Thomas Pucketts
line along his line to the place began to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of
land until our son Burrell Cashion his heirs and assigns forever to the only (?) use and
behalf of him our said son Burrell Cashion his heirs and assigns forever. In witness of
we have hereunto set our hands and seals this (?) day of June in the year of our Lord
Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty two. Signed sealed and delivered in the

Will of JAMES CASHION SENIOR and Inventory dated July 21, 1795
In the name of God Amen I James Cashion Senior of the Parrish of
Manchester and County of Chesterfield being very sick and weak in body
but of perfect mind and memory. Thanks be to Almighty God do make and
ordain this my last will and testament and dispose of my worldly estate
in the manner and form following.
Item: I give and bequeath to son Joel Cashion the land which I am now possessed with to
him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Beloved wife Ann Cashion all my goods
and chattels during her life or widowhood and then to be equally divided between my two
sons Joel Cashon and Burwell Cashon to them and their heirs forever except a wooling wheel
and loome and feather bed and furniture and them I give to my granddaughter Phebe Cashon
at my wife's death or manage.
Item: I do appoint my two sons Joel Cashon and Burwell Cashon to be the executors of this
my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
second day of June one thousand seven hundred and ninety one.

Inventory of Sarah Cashon's Estate November 12, 1766
2 beds of furniture, 1 side saddle, a mare and horse, spice mortar and box iron, a washing
tubb, 5 chairs, 2 tables, 3 pails, a spinning wheel, a (blank) tub, 2 potts and hooks, a
trunk, 4 dishes, six plates, fourteen spoons, six sheep, three cattle and all her wearing
clothes, three hoes and an ax and four knives and six forks and five tongs candlestick, a
pepper box, three pair of cards, three sifters, a skillet and frying pan, seven bottles
and a jugg, two cups a canister, two small
bottles and hand fan chisel, auger hammer a (unreadable) wedge and sider cask one towel
two table cloths two books, three pair of specticles, a meal bad and seven hogs, two
bridles and heaters.
