A couple of the earlier researchers thought our line was French, but most of us believe it
is Scotch/Irish. However, I don't think anyone has actually been able to go back that
far. Probably our james in Henrico County, Virginia was born in the US in the late
1600's or very early 1700's - but that hasn't been proved so it is still
anyone's guess. L. Andrea did a good study on the Cashin's in South Carolina I
believe, I can look that up for you - but they came over in around 1812 and remained in
the south as far as I know, but I haven't seen all his research. Probably you can get
