At least thirty-four different records identified on box 231, roll 0008 of
the NARA records of Tennessee soldiers have varied spellings using the "H"
in the middle of the name. Some duplication occurs when men re-enlisted, but
until I have had an opportunity to look at all of them, I can't be more
exact about the true number, but there seems to be more than nineteen.
Does anyone have this roll transcribed for all or some variations of the
name?
I haven't finished checking the muster roll lists against the names on the
adjutant general's rosters for Tennessee, but when I do I will divide the
list between the "H" spellings and those without and post them to their
lists.
I posted the information about the four soldiers because some researchers
have encountered records for their ancestors using spellings with and
without the "H". The information was interesting to me and I thought it
might also be to others.

Connie,
If you trace the ancesters of the Conf. CASON soldiers you will find that
they date further back than the CASHON, IN, EN, AN, & ION ever thought to
go.
I also think you will find that they are not related.
FYI, I am showing 19 Cashions that served in the civil was from the state
of
Tennessee. This includes one that died at Camp Fisher, Va. after 7
months
of
service.
