Hi All,
I'm looking for my great great grandfather, PETER CASHEN/CASHIN, who was born
in Ireland, unknown date, and died before 1851 when his wife, MARY MARGARET
HARRINGTON, born about 1808, Ireland (information through the family was County
Cork, ?) and died 1874, Illinois, USA, brought the family to Illinois, USA.
PETER CASHEN/CASHIN and JAMES PETER are common names in my CASHEN line. Half
the family spelled the name CASHEN and the other half, CASHIN. It has been
spelled CASHION, also.
I have located MARGARET CASHIN in the Griffiths Valuation in Waterford,
Clonmel, Carrick-On-Suir & Waterford, Upperthird, Barony; St. Mary's Clonmel,
Parish; Scrothea, East, Townland; date 1850.
I don't know if this is my great great grandmother, or not. The name TIMOTHY
and JOHN are also very popular. I have a suspicion that MARGARET HARRINGTON
CASHEN's father may have been TIMOTHY HARRINGTON. Just a guess from the names
of off-spring.
I did locate a TIMOTHY HARRINGTON living near a TIMOTHY CASHIN in Cork
County, Parish of Kilmocomoge, but I'm not sure if this means anything.
I also located this on
Rootsweb.com:
Catholics Waterford 1792
Cashin Roger
Cashin Peter
Cashin Edmund
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Any information would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Linda Cashen Gaunt
