Laura, not all these dates are bad and some of them are very helpful.
Almost anytime you have a full date and a loction - for instance David
married Sarah harvell 6-2-1813 in Iredell - that comes from actual
records and you can see to the side which batch record it is and when it
was entered into the LDS. The LDS collects records in two ways -
probably more than that but basically they collect from genealogist who
submit their family trees to the libraries - these records are not
checked or varified in any manner, just stored and shared. Another way
they collect records is by people who donate their time to go to
courthouses and copy records from the original and send those records
back to the Library. As a research vehicle the LDS probably has more
material than anyone else. If you look at the batch numbers you will see
that most of this misinformation comes from 8334007,8329005,8123009 and
was submitted in the early to mid 1980's. The Nash papers in the LDS
were the corner stoneof the David Cashon research for many years. When I
wrote to Mrs. Nash in the early 80's there was no reply. If you are
interested I can tell you who some of the people are - or are thought to
be andhow they connect tot he family.
