Hi, Yes, I saw this message many years ago. The only Roy C. I knew passed away some time
ago. He had dementia. I couldn't rely on his info since I found out later he was
adopted into the Cashdollar family. Nice man though.
This name has been speculated on endlessly. I believe someone found this
name(Kirschdahler) in early New York records The Cashdollars you mention lived mostly
Butler County, PA. I cannot connect them to mine. Cashdollars lived in Westmoreland Co.,
PA and Allegheny Co. PA. There are even some in West Virginia in 1850. I have researched
them a lot for many years. I think I had a breakthrough recently. I was looking thru
wills and guardianships in Allegheny County and found a William Cashdollar who passed away
in 1869. He had no will and about 10-11 children. His wife had to petition the court for
guardianship. He had a son called William Henry. This name was my great
grandfather's name. Is this enough proof? I don't know. My William Henry died in
1899. No name of parents on the death record. My line ended up in Hancock Co., WV.
My father, Alfred Joseph Cashdollar was an only child. I can find no record of a marriage
to my grandmother. I don't believe my father ever met his father.
Also, there are Cashdollars from the South. They are believed to be from Scotland. I have
tried every I can think of to make up a name that might show up on a census. No luck.
You are welcome to look at my tree on Ancestry. If your Cashdollars are descended from
Butler Co. you are very lucky.
