The following is from:
Don Yoder, "Problems and Resources in Pennsylvania German Genealogical
Research." The Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, vol 31 nbr 1, 1979.
In this, he rather casually mentions as an illustration of some point he was making (I
forget which) that the name Cashdollar comes from the German Kirschthaler.
That's the only reference I know of. I have read other people that claim the origin
of Cashdollars in Scotland, England, Denmark and other places.
I have found Kirschthalers in Bavaria and in New York (search at the LDS web site). I
have found no connection between any of these and Cashdollars.
Hope this helps, but it probably just adds to our mutual confusion.
