I have recently started researching my Cashdollar heritage. I found this interesting
because family history says our name was German and used to be "Kreshdaler" or
something similar. Kirschthaler, of course, is very similar. Our history by
word-of-mouth is that John Henry Cashdollar (born 9/13/1839) and two sisters came from
Germany together and their name wss changed to Cashdollar by Immigration when they
arrived. They settled in Pennsylvania. I've linked him to Allegheny and Juniata
Counties, possibly Butler, also. He served in the Civil War, doing two tours. However, on
Ancestry, he is listed as born variously in PA, Virginia and West Virginia. His burial
record at our local cemetery states he was born in W. Virginia. My Grandmother and
Great-Aunt both said he was from Germany, and spoke with an accent. I have found
Cashdollars all around where he lived but no concrete connections to them.
