I am currently working on my family history. My grandfather (Henry
Englund) was born in 1869 in Afta, Sweden. Unfortunately I do not
have any history on his brothers and/or sisters and/or parents. He
married Anna Albertina Broden in the 1890s in Wayne, Kansas
(USA).
Their children were Frances, Olive, Clarence Henry, Lester, and
Ann Carolyn. They adopted Donald Broden (nephew of Anna
Albertina Broden Englund) when Donald's mother passed away
approximately 1911/1912.
Ann Englund married Earl Downey (from the Arthur
Downey/Loretta Cash family in Illinois/Kentucky and the Cash
family in Kentucky -- Loretta, Ben, Claude, Emmett, James) in
Kansas City, Kansas (USA) and adopted Patricia Ann
Benison on 7/21/46 renaming me Patricia Ann Downey. Ann's
brother (Donald Broden) married my birth aunt and that is where the
connection between the adopted and birth family begin. I was
not informed of the connection until after the death of both my adoptive
parents.
I was raised as an only child by very loving parents, but in the last 5
years have discovered my birth family and discovered that I have 6
half-brothers and half-sisters (not all of whom I have met), a birth
mother, stepfather, aunts, uncles, and a 91-year old birth grandmother in
Montana, North Dakota, Kansas, California, and Texas. LeRoy
(stepfather from the Carl/Irene and Olaf Locken families in
North Dakota) Locken and Mary Locken (birth mother is Mary
Benison Carver Locken), Irene Bourget Lee (grandmother),
Greg and Darryel Locken, Clayton and Cathy Locken.
Other family members: John Lee, Marie Goddard Broden, John R.
Carver, Rose Carver Sisney, Diane Carver Brewer, and Linda
Carver Ruffatto.
While surfing the web yesterday, I discovered a genealogy record for
Clarence Henry Englund (my adopted mother's brother who passed
away on Nov 10, 1962) and some of his family. His wife Lucille
(McKenzie), and their two daughters Marian Lee and Elizabeth Ann.
The information was not complete and I am attempting to contact them. I
see from the records that some of the McKenzie family moved to North
Dakota and Wyoming. All of the relatives on my mother's genealogical
line are deceased at this time and contact has been lost.
Needless to say, I am excited about the entire situation and looking
forward to many months of research and possible connections with
family members. I have a daughter Elisabeth Ann Adams (born Jan
26, 1975) and a new grandson (Brent Allen Jansen, born Nov 29,
1997).
I don't know if you are familiar with any of these persons or locations;
but if you should be or if you can give me any direction that I might look
in, you help would be sincerely appreciated.
My e-mail address is padams(a)gw.kckps.k12.ks.us
Thank you for any thing you might be able to do.
