I have searched for years to learn more about "my" CASEY family who settled
in Lakeville Township, Dakota County, MN in 1855.
What I do know is that they were in Morris County, NJ in 1849 where a son
Lawrence was born. His siblings were born in Ireland, probably County
Sligo. Based on their ages, I assume Mark CASEY and wife Bridgett (Brennan
?) arrived in the US about 1848.

Subject: [CASEY] Casey in Wisconsin/Minnesota
As long as everyone seems to be listening right now, I'm curious
to know
why there do not appear to be any Casey lines west of the Mason Dixon. I
have a Patrick Casey of Juneau County in Wisconsin but have never
tripped upon anything even remotely close on this list. I've tried
giving a shout out, but never got any response. Are my family and I just
an anomoly? I know there were many Irish in the Minneapolis area, which
is where he ended up, but no one ever seems to claim it.

My Cayces are in the Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky area. I
can track them to Virginia
I also have 3 'Caseys', that may or may not be connected. One of them
was
born in Tennessee. I really haven't attempted to trace that line as of
yet. I had a DNA connection to my Thomas family that pulled in two lines
(Garrett and Agee), that brought the Cayce line into focus. I still
have not found the connecting ancestor, but I do know that the Thomas
women that married into the Cayce line are related to my direct line
somehow. Meanwhile, I have tons of names and connections, and lots of
new leads. I don't have a Coughlin.............is there any other
possible spelling? What time frame are you working with? I will be most
happy to share anything that I can with you.
How's the weather down there? We're bracing for the new storm that is
moving in as I write. I don't like the snow, but I can live with it.
The winds however make me VERY nervous!

I have not looked at my records for probably three years but I do
remember getting excited that my ancestor Micajah?Casey could be
connected to Charles Cayce from Virginia because I live in Va. and could
do research here at the state library. However, I do remember finding
Micajah Casey, son of Charles Cayce, had records of marriage not related
to my Wayne Co., NC Micajah Casey. After Christmas, I will try to post
the info I have that made me determine there were two different Micajah
Caseys. I love that the postings have inspired me to begin researching
again.

I have more specific info on Sarah Herring who married Micajah Casey of
New Kent & Wayne Co. I have that she was born in 1750 in New Hanover, Nc
and died in 1820 in Lenoir, NC. It's been awhile since we found this
information so I cannot give you a source tonight. I also don't know why
I have Sarah's middle name as Jernigan. I'll try and find out after the
holidays.
