Good to know the Casey list is still alive. It has been forever since any postings.
Shelley, I wish I could claim this family as I do have Caseys that lived in Illinois and
even an Eliza but from a different time period. Thanks for your effort. I hope you find
the family

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Susie CRAIG of Centralia, Illinois
which
was taken at the Davies Bros. Studio in Centralia. The photograph appears
to have been taken in the 1880's with Susie likely in her teens at the time
it was taken. In addition to her name and hometown, someone has written
"Mama bro Frank dag", I'm guess this means that the photograph was
"Mother's
brother Frank's daughter" but I'm not absolutely sure of that.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information
regarding Susie and her family:
Susan M. CRAIG b. about 1870 in Marion Co. IL to parents Benjamin Franklin
CRAIG (b. 11 Jun 1841 in Madison Co. IL)
And Eliza Ellen CASEY (b. about 1849 in Clinton Co. IL).
Census records provide the following info:
1870 census of Carlyle P.O., IL:
Thomas CASEY, age 66, a Farmer, born VA
Susan CASEY, age 66, born VA
Eliza E. CRAIG, age 21, born IL
Benjamin F. CRAIG, age 29, Works on Farm, born IL
James S. CRAIG, age 3, born IL
Susan M. CRAIG, age 2 months, born IL
1880 census of Centralia, IL:
Benjamin F. CRAIG, age 38, born IL, Works in Nail Mill, parents born SC/?
Eliza E. CRAIG, wife, age 31, born IL, Keeps House, parents born VA
James T. CRAIG, son, age 12, born IL
Susan M. CRAIG, dau, age 10, born IL
Phoebe M. CRAIG, dau, age 8, born IL
Albert B. CRAIG, son, age 6, born IL
Cora A. CRAIG, dau, age 4, born IL
Jesse CRAIG, dau, age 1, born IL
I am hoping to locate someone from this CRAIG Family so that this precious
old photograph can be returned to its rightful place, with family. If you
are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please
contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
