Hi Virginia,
Good to hear from you. As I had written, I am having difficulty
tracing the
Caseys from County Mayo (Belmullet) to the U.S. My Great Aunt,
Moria (Maria)
Coughlin nee Casey was married in 1875 to William Coughlin in
Parkersburg
West Virginia. About a year later, they had a daughter Mary born
ca 1876 in
Virginia and in 1879, a son M. James Coughlin born in Kentucky.
They were in
Chicago for the 1880 census. My problem is identifying where in
Kentucky M.
James was born...I have nothing to go on and I know there are a
mulititude
of Caseys in Kentucky...who all seem to have been in the U.S.
for some time
before my Caseys arrived.
So I have connections to West Virginia - the marriage; Virginia -
Mary's
birth; and Kentucky - M. James' birth. The birth information
comes by way of
the 1880 census.
My next step will be to take a look at Hopkins County to see if
I can
connect my Caseys to anyone there...for me its a starting point,
but only
that. I don't know if it connects to as famous a line as you
mention, we'll
have to see. Thanks for your response and keep me in mind if you
happen upon
anything sounding familiar with what I've written above and I'll
do the same
for you.
Best Regards,
Tom Schenk
