This is my first posting to this list. I am from Nova Scotia and am
looking for descendants of my 4th great grandparents who arrived in NS
with six children. We only have info on two and are looking for the
other four. here is some of the info i have. the rest is online at
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hollow/5989
Looking for descendants of John CASEY and Catherine (DANCHER) of
Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
I'm not sure where the info on Catherine's maiden name came from
but it really seems to be a dead end. I'm wondering if its right.
John CASEY and his wife arrived from Ireland with six children
in May 1811 according to a land grant received October 20, 1812.
in Port Piswig.
Children that came with them.
Son Cornelius CASEY born circa 1805 Ireland
( 1st married Ann FERGUSON Nov 2,1834)
(2nd married Anne Elizabeth BRENNAN Oct 24, 1836)
*Son John CASEY II born circa 1809 Ireland
married Elizabeth MIERY of Queens County c1822
In a later census John II is listed as being born in Newfoundland, so
it is possible that the family stopped in Newfoundland before coming
to Nova Scotia, although I have no idea what part.
THE FOUR OTHER CHILDREN ARE UNACCOUNTED FOR. They may be girls or they
may be sons that went elsewhere (They could be anywhere). I know there
are a lot of Caseys in the Amherst area and am trying to find a
connection.
Children born in Nova Scotia
Son Daniel CASEY born 1815 Nova Scotia married Mary DIGGINS oct 12, 1836
Below I have listed some Casey listings that I have found and the
dates make them a possibilty. If anyone knows where these CASEYs belong
please let me know
Thomas CASEY married Hannah SPARKS, April 24, 1817 in Parrsboro
(Cumberland
County NS) Parents just listed as Casey.
This information was in The Chignecto Project Marriage records.
CASEY, Ellen, dau. of John/Catherine (Donihue) of Nfld.; marri. Halifax
22 Apr. 1829 Benjamin Summers. (from some Irish weddings in NS)
This one is a possibilty if the info my family has on Catherines surname
is wrong.
From vital statistic of Ns Newspapers
29 May 1852 from scalds received when the steamer Anna Augusta expoded
Thomas CASEY (the nova scotian)
10 Jan 1850 (or Oct 1?) Obit. John CASEY 76, Hfx a native of Cork
(if this is the same John Casey it would have made him about 39 years
old when he arrived in NS.
If anyone can add anything I would greatly appreciate it
Thanks
Rose
