I am praying that someone lives in Raleigh and frequents the archives who would be willing
to do some research for me.
ggrandfather, Alexander Casey b. 1825, married Levicey or Vicy (both spellings are used)
Jernigan April 1861. I have been unable to find any info on Vicey's parents.
Vicey Jernigan (Age 12) is listed in the household of Henderson Martin in 1850 NC Wayne
Co. census.
I believe this is the same Vicey (age 22) listed in the 1860 NC Wayne Co. census in the
household of Matthew Casey. On many family trees, she is listed as the daughter of Matthew
Casey, I think because of the 1860 census but I have a copy of the marriage bond of
Alexander Casey and Levicey Jernigan dated April 10, 1861.
If I could find apprentice bond for Levicey Jernigan to serve Henderson Martin between
(1838-1850) or Matthew Casey between 1850-1860, I would feel certain that Levicey Jernigan
and Levicey Casey are one in the same.
I contacted the archives by mail asking for research in Wayne County Apprentice Bonds
& Records 1800-1917. Their reply was it is usually impossible for the staff to search
bonds because they are arranged by date.
I would be happy to pay someone for the search. You may contact me directly. Thanks!
