The History of Union Co. KY will not agree with my previous message. Peter
Casey moved there before his death but died many years before his wife and
so feel that his history may not be recorded correctly here.
THE CASEY FAMILY
Peter Casey's ancestry were Irish. Three brothers, Benjamin, Nicholas and
another, whose name is not known, came to America before the Rev. War. The
oldest brother, Benj., was a soldier and killed in the War for
Independence. The next oldest moved West, and the family lost sight of
him. The third was Nicholas, the ancestor of the Union Co. family. He
settled in Va, and was the father of Peter Casey. (Nicholas Casey, Pvt.
from VA, married Grace Forman b. 11/7/1745 d. 5/10/1833-- DAR Pat. Index)
Peter Casey was born in VA early enough to participate in the Rev. War.(
DAR Pat. Index - Civil Service, KY). About the close of the war he married
Nancy Waggener, dau of Major Andrew Waggener in the Continental Army of the
Rev., who lived near Fredricksburg in Spottsylvania Co., VA.
All of this was from the Union Co. Hist. except in ( ). One other source
of information in this history was interesting: "An old scrap from the New
York Herald gives the origin of the name Casey; and compliments the three
older Caseys very highly, and pursues their geneology back several
generations".- no dates. Wanda
