Years ago a fellow Casey researcher and I were working the Caseys in Georgia.
She found in the Georgia Archives (I think it was) a book called "Whites
Among the Cherokees". In that book was an 1834 census of Murray County
Georgia and listed on that census was a Jessey Casey with a family of 10.
There is no evidence to prove who this Jesse Casey is. No Jesse Casey shows
up on the 1830 Georgia Census in Murray County, Georgia or any of the five
Georgia border counties. There was the Jesse Casey mentioned in the deeds in
Burke County in 1830 and there was a Jesse Casey in Jasper Co., GA 1840 (I
think but cannot prove that this is the Jesse of Burke Co 1830). If anyone
has any info about the Jessey Casey in Murray County, GA in 1834 please let
me know - Otherwise I may just claim him for my Jesse E. Casey who was
supposed to be in Georgia in 1834 (Just kidding!!) As of now there is
absolutely no proof as to who this Jesse is. Just a reminder - this was a
census of the WHITES living in the area so there is no indication that there
is any Native American connections to this Jessey Casey family. Thanks for
any help.
