Thanks for that explanation. The South Carolina Archives sent me (many years
ago) a typed copy of the Moses Casey will (All the other wills they sent
were copies of the original along with a typed copy) The witnesses were listed
as Willis Casey, Sink Casey (Made her X) and Samuel G. Casey. I wondered who
Sink was! I have Willis P. Casey and wife Sinah and 4 children on the 1850
DeKalb Co., AL census and I had written a note to remind me that the Index to
Probate Court Files of Etowah Co 1867-1900 lists a W. P. Casey Estate 1872.
Guess I better check that out.

Tim, this is the Willis P. Casey later in DeKalb/Etowah Co. Alabama, at
least by 1840. His wife's name was Sinah, and she also was a witness to the
Moses Casey will under discussion. They're both found on Alabama censuses
after they moved there from Spartanburg. Willis P. Casey b 1805 SC - d 5
Dec 1871 in Etowah Co., AL. His wife Sinah F. (Unk) was b 1804 SC, died
after 1880.
