As if there isn't enough confusion I add to it by making typos!
I agree the "Carsey" men in 1790 Spartanburg County census are probably
Caseys.
I had not seen the Fryer/Casey court case - very interesting. I'm still
mulling it over. I see the relationship between Washington Casey and Richard
Fryer but have not yet figured out the other Casey relationships. I'm working on
it!
According to info from the Aaron Casey estate settlement there were at least
connections to the Bobo family if only though land transactions. Farrow is a
new name to me.

Also in SC 1790 census were these "Carsey" men (Jacob, James and John) who,
in comparing with later censuses and deeds, are most likely Caseys. (I've
seen Casey and Carsey used interchangeably in the same court document for my
ancestor Daniel Casey b abt 1760.) These 1790 Carseys appear on the same
page with other "Casy" names mentioned below in Vonda's list. Then in 1800
the Jacob CASEY is found on the Spartanburg census. By 1830 Jacob Casey is
60-70, the oldest male Casey on the SC census.
The surnames Farrow and Bobo are also a commonality between the 1790 & 1800
SC censuses, both appearing on the same page with these Caseys.
Another thing to note is the name Richard "Frier" in 1790 who is with this
Casey group on census listings. He's likely the Richard Fryer in the
Fryer/Casey court case documented in SCMAR and at this website in detail:

The punctuation and wording makes it kind of confusing to understand. I've
made a working chart about these relationships which has Willis P. Casey
(SC>AL) as a grandson of Richard Fryer but have no direct proof.
In 1794 James Casey witnessed a deed for Richard Fryer. In 1795, James
Casey's land bordered Richard Fryer's land on the Enoree River (from a
different deed). The same as James "Carsey" in the 1790 census? Likely so...
I have a note that William Casey witnessed the 1821 will of Richard Fryer
but another note that it was also recorded in Jones Co., GA. Does anyone
know why? Jones Co. was in central Georgia.
