Lisa and list-
I too have Casey's from Laurens District, SC that went to GA around abt
1817. I know the ones that went to Fulton and Walton Co., GA went due to
the GA Land Lottery. Was this the same reason that someone would settle
in Cass Co., GA?
If not, why would they settle in Cass County, GA and what is the
probably that other Casey's who settled there are related?
I have Elisha Casey (b. 1773 Laurens District, SC) who is in Jackson
Co., GA in 1817 and dies in Walton Co., GA.
Elisha's son Hiram (1800-1874)(who had 12 children) settled in DeKalb
Co, GA. Elisha's grandson Ausburn (1824-1897 - son of Hiram) settled in
Cass Co., GA.
In an attempt to sort out the Georgia Casey's, I have done an All Casey
census search on *ALL* Casey's in all parts of Georgia from 1850 forward
to 1880.
I have had difficulties researching the Casey's in SC prior to 1800 due
to the common first names.
Is Spartanburg in Laurens District, SC?
Elisha was an orphan and was raised by relatives in SC to maturity. I do
not know his parents name. He had an Uncle Zachariah Green and it is
speculated that his mother's maiden name was Green but hat could just as
well be on his father's side also.

Karen, my James Casey married Anne(a) last name
unknown, and they relocated their family from
Spartanburg, SC to Cass County GA by 1850.
Good luck!
