Hi,
I'm new to this list.
My CASEY (or CACY) - spelled both ways by the family) ancestry begins with
my 4th gr-grandmother, Elizabeth CASEY who was b. 1778 in VA. Her father was
Roderic or Roderick CASEY, "an emigrant from Limerick, Ireland."
Elizabeth CASEY married Benjamin Porter in 1804 in either SC or GA. Benjamin
was a native of East Hartford CT who was born in Boston MA. Benjamin and
Elizabeth (CASEY) Porter lived in Petersburg, Elbert County, GA from 1804 to
1809-10. They had 3 children there, and moved to Lincoln County, TN about
1809-10. There Benjamin Porter d. 1828 and Elizabeth (CASEY) Porter moved to
TX in 1853 where she d. 1857.
I find CASEYs in GA, AL, MS, and TX in the vicinities where Elizabeth
(CASEY) Porter or one of her children lived either temporarily or
permanently but I am at a loss to connect to any of them and have never been
able to find anything on Roderick CASEY who was in America prior to
Elizabeth's birth in VA in 1778.
My sources of information are: Goodspeed's Histories of Tennessee (Lincoln
County) and personal papers of G.W.D. Porter (Elizabeth's grandson).
I'd appreciate any input from any direction by anyone who thinks something
here might ring a bell.
Thanks,
Donnie
