Rita,
Have been digging through my Missouri stuff and now I see your line. I had
corresponded with someone about it a couple of years ago and worked with it
trying to make a connection my with my Caseys but didn't have any luck. If I
turn up anything new I will let you know. If you find a connection you let me
know. Maybe one day we will tie all those Caseys in Tennessee together!
Deed of Trust (no other info in my notes) in Hamilton Co., TN 1841 mentions a
James Casey, John Casey and Harlin Casey and an Agnes Casey of Grainger Co.
Since James died in 1838 I am assuming this James is his son James W. I
probably miscopied the name Harlin - bet it's Starlin/Sterlin since I see a
Starling Casey age 26 in 1850 Wright County near James Casey. Do you have a
copy of this Deed?
I'm sure you have this info but I will throw it in just in case: I see in my
notes that on the 1799 Grainer Tax List were - John Casey, Samuel Casey and
James Casey. Also marriage record for Samuel Casey to Ann Bealor - Feb. 20,
1798 - John Casey bondsman, Sam'l Yancy witness. I added a note that this
Samuel Casey was the father of Samuel Henry Casey b. 1799 who appears on the
LaClede Co., MO. 1850 census (I have this record) Samuel Henry's father
Samuel supposedly died when he (Samuel Henry) was 6 months old and Samuel
Henry was raised by Ann Bealor's parents (she remarried). This is not my
research - info was sent to me years ago by another researcher. An article
in Goodspeeds History of LeClede Co. indicates that Samuel H. Casey was born
in Roane Co., TN March 20, 1799 and his father died when he was six months
old and Samuel was taken and reared by an uncle, Daniel BIEHLER. Now having
said all that I notice that under Grainger County taxable Property I show a
Samuel Casey listed with 140 acres from 1817 thru 1820 (Also a James Casey
with 100 acres in 1816). So if Samuel Casey who married Ann Bealor in
Grainger Co in 1798 died when Samuel Henry was 6 months old, who is this
Samuel? This is probably nothing you are interested in but there it is. Just
wanted someone else to worry about it!.
We are having a heat wave here in the deep south. Temperature was 3 degrees
early this morning and now at 10:45 we are all the way up to 8 degrees!

Vonda,
Sorry, I do not have a Dempsey Casey in my line. My gggggrandfather, James
Casey was born about 1775 and died before 1839 in Hamilton County, TN. In
1789 he was granted land in Green County, TN, he moved to McMinn County, TN
in the early 1800s. It is believed that he also lived in Rhea County, TN at
one point in his life.
In 1810, James and Elizabeth are listed in the Grainger County, TN Census.
Their son, James W. Casey was born in Grainger County, TN and died in
Wright
County, Missouri. His son, George Washington Casey was born in 1841 in
McMinn
County, Hamilton, TN and died in Montgomery County, AR.
It would be great to connect our Tennessee Casey families - if there is a
connection???
Thanks,
Rita
