Hi, Scott. I don't personally have experience, but would suggest an
excellent resource for getting answers to these kinds of questions is the
"GM" (General Methods) list or the Advanced list....you could browse the
Rootsweb lists and find them and then subscribe.

Subject: [CASEY-L] early transport
Hi List,
I'd appreciate any ideas or experiences anyone has with researching young
family members that arrive by themselves. I was surprised when a family
member told me (no naturalization or written documentation) that my
Eugene Casey left Co Tipp at age 12 or 13.
Does this help (require some papers because of age at time of leaving or
arriving?) or cause me to look in some places? I have a gap of ~ 13
years until his 1871 marriage (which provided NO genealogical info). No
baptismal records were found in Co Tipp so I'm running out of ideas.
Any guidance would be appreciated,
Scott
