I do not live far from Calloway Co KY, I have went to the county court
house there for research not much there. I was researching Treece line on
my grandmothers side. I was only there for that reason maybe more records.
Where did your Casey ancestors buy land in Southern IL. I live in Union
Co IL , I have researched the Johnson Co IL Casey's which most are
descendants of Randolph Casey who died in Smith Co TN , I have researched
the Casey line in Jefferson Co IL which are mostly descendants of Randolph
Casey who died in Smith Co TN.
The earliest Casey families in Union Co IL were John and Robert Casey. I
believe these to be of NC . Seems from my memory that William Casey m.
Valentine in NC.
Nicholas Casey was in Gallatin Co IL near Shawneetown he is a descendant
of Peter Casey of KY. He worked in the Land Office at Shawneetown. Of
course we can go to Bond , Montgomery, Fayette Co IL , which has Aaron
Casey migrating from Warren Co KY and John Casey migrating from Warren Co
KY. There is also Wilson Casey migrating from Wayne Co TN to Fayette Co
IL. Sarah Casey that married John Hill she the daughter of Abner Casey and
Nancy Williams of KY. Which I believe may be of western KY say Marshall.
Alot of migration of the Casey families west.

Tim & Joyce, I find your discussion of Casey's in Isle of Wight and
Southern
Illinois very interesting.
My oldest known relative is James Turner Casey, listed as born in VA in
1804. His son George Washington Casey (there must be 2 dozen Casey men
with
that name) was born in Calloway County Ky in 1844, close to the Tennessee
River, not far from Southern Illinois. In fact there are land purchases in
Southern Illinois with names found in my Casey line. George's son John
Adam, my grandfather, moved to Wayne County Missouri (SE MO), on the Black
River, but there were relatives who went through Southern Illinois there.
And some of James Turner Casey's sons were born in NC. Since the state
borders changed a great deal, I don't attach a lot of significance to the
precise identification of the state of birth in the various census
listings;
I 've seen too many mistakes that I knew were errors in other branches of
my
family.
We suspect, but are not sure, that two other Casey men who came from VA,
possibly Henry County, perhaps preceded by Isle of Wight further up the
line, were siblings to our James Turner Casey. Two of these brothers'
lines
went through Illinois before moving to Missouri - mostly in SW Mo.
There are some common names, e.g. Drucilla, and one other: primitive
Baptist
stuff: James Turner Casey was a Primitive Baptist preacher.
Perhaps the DNA testing may reveal some of the relationship possibilities
there. My brother Neil has been tested, although I'm going to be the
person
fielding any inquiries about matches that may surface. There are two other
Casey
Tim,
Do you know if the Casey book you have is located in the Ft. WayneIN
genealogy library? It is one of the best genealogical collections that
I;ve
seen, I get to it once in a great while (I'm in Michigan).
