I have been tracing this Casey line for about 6 years and would love to
exchange information (GEDs?) with you.
I am by no means an expert on these families and would like to compare
information and make corrections where needed.
I've tracked about 200 Casey's descending from The father Elisha in GA.
My husband is related to Hiram Casey brother to Elisha and Ausborn
My thoughts....
- Elisha & Ausborn descend from Elisha Casey (wife Easter/Esther). I
strongly do not believe that they are related
at least at this generation to the Randolph Casey group.
- The Elisha Casey in Walton county GA is the father Elisha (wife
Easter/Esther) NOT Elisha who married Ally Patrick in CAMPBELL CO., GA in
1836.
- My notes state that Ausborn (married Elizabeth) died in 1877 in Campbell
County, GA - never heard he went to Alabama
- I have 9 children for Ausborn
- I have 4 children for Elisha
AM very interested in talking with those researching this line.

In searching in Georgia I came across your Elisha and Ausburn/Osborn in
Campbell Co. in 1840. Saw Elisha in Walton Co. in 1830. I may have more
info
but I will have to check my files. If you would like to contact me my
email
address is vondad(a)aol.com.
There is only one Bird listed in the Newton County Cemetery book - Elmer
Bird
and there are no dates shown. He is in Shiloh Cemetery. There are no
Rumsays. I did not find either Birds or Rumsays in census records 1850 -
1910 except in 1880 there is a John Bird age 54 born in Tennessee living in
household of Jefferson Villines. If they were in Newton County they must
have
come and gone between censuses. Of course census and cemetery are the only
sources I checked. Vonda

Let me add my two cents to this Casey "controversy".
Several years ago I tried tracking the Casey's in So. Carolina. My
ancestor, Elisha, was supposed to have been born in So. Carolina,
though he lived later on in Georgia. One of my cousins
told me that our Casey's came from
Spartanburg Co. Some of my research on Casey is thus:
NAME YEAR COUNTY
Aaron 1790 Spartanburg
1800 Spartanburg
1810 Spartanburg
Jesse 1790 Spartanburg
1800 Not found
1810 Spartanburg
1820 Spartanburg
This may be old news to you'all, but thought I'd throw it into the mix. I
show others, but these are the names that have been mentioned in this
latest digest.
Now, to CASEY in Newton Co. AR
This is very interesting to me because I may have some connections here.
My Elisha CASEY had a brother, Ausburn (Ausborn, Osborn) J. CASEY. In
1850 they both lived in Campbell Co., Ga. Elisha (b. c. 1814) married
Ally B. PATRICK in Campbell Co., in 1835. Their children were:
Joseph G., Ester Angeline, Elizabeth Clementine, Jonathan O.J.,
Martha A.S., and Mary C. Ausburn (b. c.1804) was married to
Elizabeth and their children were:Wm J., Mary A.,
Rhoda A., Elisha B., Orsborn (Ausburn) J., Elizabeth J. and
John A.
In 1860 both these families moved to Lafayette Co. AR. By this time
Elisha's daughter Elizabeth Clementine (my ancestress) had married Andrew
Jackson RUMSEY, and along with the Casey's came A.J. "Jack"'s family,
Francis Pinkney RUMSEY and his wife Rhoda BIRD RUMSEY I believe the
brothers, Jesse George and Curry BUTLER, may have also come at the
same time. My aforementioned cousin told me that she was sure the
RUMSEY's and BIRD's went to Newton Co. AR, which brings me to the
info from Mary Jo and Wanda, who mention Buffalo Cemetery.
Have you seen any RUMSEY or BIRD in Buffalo Cemetery?
I would appreciate any info you have on Newton County as pertaining to
these families. Thanks, Peggy
