Joel and John Casey are in Maury County about 1820. Does anyone know
if these are the same John and Joel?

In tracing the genealogy of the families whose ancestors lived in
early Knox
County, it is fitting to give the names ofmembers of the bar, as they
were a
prominent index of those who established the community. Among the
members of
the Knoxville bar before 1800 and a few by 1820 were the following:
and at the
end of a list for 36 Lawyers, the name of Joel Casey appears. I
don't
know if
someone can use this. but sent it anyway. Joel was also on page 709
as a
member of the first school commissioners appointed in 1825.
among the first Magistrates of Claiborne County Tennessee in Dec.
1801 was
John Casey. The oath of office was administered to these persons by
Andrew
Evans and Joseph Cobbs of Grainger County. This is all I have.
