A Jacob Rife born 1761 was the son of Peter Rife born
1725-1730-died aft 1798 VA. Jacob served in the Rev. War No.
23053, No. S9066. Siblings: Conrad, Abraham, Peter, Gabriel,
George, two female Rife, Elizabeth, may not be in order of birth.
I can't give much else except Peter was probably born in Germany or
in PA, naturalized in Berks Co. 1729. He was probably a son of
either Hans George Tief or another Peter who were early German
settlers in PA. Peter moved probably during the early part of the
Rev. War to Montgomery Co., VA, later he moved to the west of New
River to the part of Montgomery Co. that became Wythe. He was
still living in 1798 when he made a deed to his son Abraham. Peter
moved from PA to Montgomery Co., MD around 1763-4, then to
Shenandoah Valley of VA in what was later Rockingham Co. Three of
his sons stayed there when Peter wwent to Roanoke Valley (George,
Conrad and Jacob). There may be Rev. War service for many of his
sons.
Hope this helps someone. It is my d-i-l's line and I don't have
much else on Rife involved with Casey. Gabriel Rife, son of
Gabriel, Peter, married Martha Evans and that marriage eventually
became involved with my Casey line.

Still searching for Elizabeth Casey, who according to folklore in
Shenandoah
Valley and Kentucky, was mother of Gen. Christopher Riffe of
Kentucky, born
Maryland, possibly in Leitersburg District (near present
Hagerstown MD) in
1764. Elizabeth said to be wife of Jacob Reiff/Riffe, born in
Lancaster Co.
Pa. ca. 1745, moved to Leitersburg District ca. 1760-1. Gen. Riffe
reported
to have gone to Kentucky in 1783-5 with William Casey, for whom
Casey Co. KY
is named. Peter Casey also went, and he's well-traced in KY. Also,
Benjamin
Casey, died in Revolutionary War, may have been a brother/uncle of
Elizabeth.
Any leads welcome. HEReiff(a)aol.com

I'm looking for information on James G. Casey. He was in Hardeman
County, Tennessee about the same time as Rev. Hiram Casey (1790 -
1828,
son of Randolph) but I do not know if there is a connection. My
understanding is that all of Randolph's other children moved on to
Illinois. However, there were still some Casey's in Hardeman County.
James did name his second son Hiram. There is a John Casey in the
county
in 1830 who may be James' father. There is also a James A. Casey
(very
confusing). Rev. Hiram's widow, Catherine is there for some time
after
his death. Any help with these Casey's is appreciated.

Hi
All of my e-mail for Wednesday was lost. I'm in a panic that
someone may
have posted something to the list that finally connects to my
line, so just
in case I'm sending a new querie.
Does anyone have any information about Margaret (CASEY) WEBER.
She was
born Feb. 14, 1863 in Alexandria, VA. Her parents were Jeremiah,
born in
Limerick, Ireland and Margaret (MEADE) CASEY, born in County Clare,
Ireland.
I don't know when she left VA, but Margaret ended up in Chicago,
married to
Louis WEBER.
I would very much love to hear from anyone with any information.
