Hi Mike,
I can't be certain but I believe Abraham and Abner are one and the same.
It may be a "census thing." As you know, census records aren't always
accurate and they are handwritten so sometimes it's difficult to
interpret them. From what I could tell, in 1880 census, Newton Co, AR, it
looks like Abner, age 15. In 1870 census, Johnson Co, AR, he's listed as
age 2. Those are the only two census years I've listed in his notes.
However, often I list everything under the name of one or two members of
the family's and get tired of typing so don't enter it in all instances.
Unfortunately I didn't write down his name at the time - in his notes.. I
probably have it in someone else's notes, possibility his father's
record.
Re John H. I have him in the 1870 census, Johnson Co., AR. listed as age
1/12. In 1900 I have John H. CASEY, b: Sep 1869, AR. Doesn't add up
exactly but often census records don't.
I could very well have misinterpreted the middle initial for John P./H. I
don't know abt you but to me that handwriting is often very difficult for
me to read.
Do you have any info other than census records? I'd LOVE copies, if
possile.
What proof/source do you have for Elizageth Jane vs Eliza Jane? I'm
always looking for clues tr "my" Elizabeth, the daughter. However, since
Uriah's mother's name was Elizabeth - as was her mother's, it could
simply be a family name.
I got the nickname "Lum" from Katy Katimer (or something like that). It
seems to be what her family called Christoper Columbus. I don't know her
source. Have you been in contact w/her? What's your source for "CC" as a
nickname? Gets rather confusing when even nicknames vary from story to
stoy.
I have info re Uriah C. CASEY in the Civil War. I just can't place my
hands on them at all times, especially since I'm packing everything
I case you don't know I'm looking for a new job in a new locattion. It's
a very difficult thing to do. Talk abt "involved." I don't know any other
way of life!
I was just sharing what I had w/others. Did you cc them as well?
Thank you for your info.
Regards,
Casey
Thanks,
Casey
I have him as age 1/12 in 1870 census, Johnson Co, AR. Unfortunately, in
my notes I didn't list his name at that time. I know I have the record
writen on paper somewhere around here. I'm in the process of packing, so
if I was disorganized before, now I really am.In 1880 Newton County, AR,
I have him as Abner, age 15.

Hi Mary,
Sorry about getting back so late, but I have been very busy this past
week,
getting my son enrolled and moved over to attend Texas A&M
University.
(MY COMMENT)
>James F. = James Franklin "Frank" Correct
>George W. = George Washington Correct
Francis = Francis Marion Correct
Andrew Jackson = "Jack" Correct
Eliza = Eliza Jane Correct also "Elizabeth Jane
or Eliza"
Winfield = Winfield Scott Correct
Abner - There's some confusion here. Census records and other records
difficult to read.
Abraham/Abner (?) Correct also "Ab"
Christoper Columbus = "Lum" Correct also "CC"
John P. = Don't know what the P is for. I have "John H."
>Don't know what the C. in Uriah C. CASEY is for either. Do you? A
GUESS
would be Christopher or Columbus - but strictly a GUESS coming from
me.
Both are names used throughout the CASEY lineage.
I do not know for sure either. But I think you have a good guess.
>"My" Ambler was Union. I don't remember what Uriah was. I'd have to
look
it up.
Uriah enlisted as Confederate on March 10, 1863 in Newton County. He
was
listed as deserted on August 22, 1863 at Fayetteville.
>I've not been able to find out what happened to the youngest sister,
Elizabeth/Lizzie/Liza after the 1850 census.
This was my only record of her also.
I really appreciate the work you have done for our family line and
that you
have shared your information with me. I have not been doing any work
on the
Caseys for some time, the family and work has kept me from getting
involved.
Take care.
Mike
