I am researching the extended family of descendants of Roger Casey.
The below quote is from the Acadian Family Names Internet site:
"Roger Kuessy, born in 1651, was a ploughman and a refugee from Ireland who,
in 1668 married Marie Franoise Poirier at Port Royal. He is credited with
being the first one to introduce fruit trees to the region which would
explain why he settled the fertile area around Beausjour (today's Butte
Roger in New Brunswick). The Kuessys had 9 children."
The family surname has been variously spelled: Caissy, Caissie, Quessy and
Casey among others. I would appreciate information on the villeage of
Beaubassin (named after La Vallire's son) or any of Roger 's descendants
anywhere in the world and will gladly share what I have...After the British
began to deport the Acadians in 1755-58, my family took to the woods and wound
up in Quebec. Many can still be found within 25 miles of where they originally
settled near Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Another branch, deported to France, made
their way to the Seychelles Islands and then to Australia around 1900.
So you see, there are Caseys all over the world even though it takes
some digging at times to establish a documented link.
