THANK YOU SO MUCH, that is my William. He had been in the MO Volunteers and
had a medical discharge and died in the Poor House. I wonder where his wife
and daughter were. I joined the Tri-County Genealogical Society down there
and asked if one of them could look up my CASEY's, but they must have been
too busy. I already had Sophia Ann STRICKLAND, sister Nancy Jane, dau. of
Seth & Melvina from page 424, but then couldn't find a way to look for
CASEYs. I appreciate this so much. William's wife married a John WALKER
later and received a pension pmt from William. Their daughter Emma Jane
CASEY married James PHIL(L)IPS somewhere and ended up in Newcastle, Weston
Co. WY where I knew her very well. She was my gr-grandma.
Would I be imposing too much to ask if you would look for my Seth & Melvina
STRICKLAND and any others in your book? I will gladly pay you for your
time. I've been wanting to find someone who could look in this book for
years. Thanks for the death date. I will check out this Jacob. I'm sure
he's related. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Elaine

Subject: Re: CASEY'S in Holt County, MO
Hi Elaine,
Recently I purchased the book. "Gone Home" which is a directory of the
Deceased and Items of History of Holt County, Missouri-1837 - 1981 by
Eileen DERR.
"CACY (see CASEY) found on page 60.
William CACY who for some months past has been an inmate of the County
Farm , died in great agony from effects of eating too many sour
cherries." Holt Co. Press June 25, 1885."
The next two were found on page 65:
"CASEY (see CACY)
William CASEY of the Poor Farm died Sunday.
M.C. News - June 26, 1885.
Capt. Jacob S. CASEY (Co. G. 4th MO. Inf) was shot and killed near Troy,
Kans, while attempting to protect his claim on an island six miles from
Troy. (M.C. News Apr 6, 1900)
Note: This was printed in a local Holt Co. paper with the implication
that Mr. CASEY'S name was familiar to Holt Countians"
I tried to copy verbatim and sure hope it helps someone.
