I said I would put more Casey material on the Web so here it is and any help
would be appreceiated .
This material comes from Casey Family History by Harold and Robert Casey 15
Jul 1980.
The authors currently believe that Abner's son , John Casey was born in
Virginia and moved to South Carolina around 1755. According to the "History
of Newberry County,SC, " John F. Casey signed a petition in 1755 requesting
a troop of rangers for protection against Indians. This book states that he
was from the Enoree settlement of South Carolina. (Enoree settlement is
important to the Abner Casey line in my opinion is where most of Abners sons
moved and lived near each other at first.) In 1755 John was probably in his
20's therefore , he must have been born in the early 1730's.
According to an index of Land Grants, John Casey was granted 200 acres of
Land in Berkeley County on Duncan's Creek on November 1.1765. In 1765,
Berkeley County was of four counties of SC. Duncan's creek is situated in
what later became Newberry Co SC. At this time period, settlers were being
granted land almost free of charge to encourage settlement of the Area. The
head fo each family was allowed 100 acres for himself and an additional 50
acres for each member of his family. Therefore in 1765 it is most likely
that John was married and had one child. John Casey was the father of at
least one child Abner Casey.
This fact is documented in an indenture between Abner Casey and Levi Casey
which is dated 1777. This indenture involves the sale of John Casey's 1765
land grant of 200 acres. John Casey is stated as the father of Abner Casey
and that Abner was the proper hier of the Land.
In 1775, 100 acrers of land was granted in a Memorial to Abner Casey. This
land was shown as on the "south side of the Enoree River" and bounded on the
"south east on John Casey." This land grant implies that John was still
living on the Enoree River as late as 1775. Because Abner Casey is stated as
the proper heir of John's Land in 1777. It is believed that John Casey died
in Newberry County, South Carolina between 1775 and 1777.
(now this differs from my previous message to the Casey web site questin is
which Abner Casey is the son of John F. Casey.
2. John Casey that married Isabelle Allison are these two the same Johns
will does not mention 1 son but this son has to be dead as John stated in
