Tim, this is the Willis P. Casey later in DeKalb/Etowah Co. Alabama, at
least by 1840. His wife's name was Sinah, and she also was a witness to the
Moses Casey will under discussion. They're both found on Alabama censuses
after they moved there from Spartanburg. Willis P. Casey b 1805 SC - d 5
Dec 1871 in Etowah Co., AL. His wife Sinah F. (Unk) was b 1804 SC, died
after 1880.
It's always fascinated me that Wiley Lafayette Casey, a great-grandson of my
earliest-known ancestor Daniel Casey, was an administrator of the estate of
this Willis P. Casey. Other than that, I've found no connection between
Daniel and those commonly called the "Spartanburg Caseys." My Caseys lived
in Georgia early on, fairly close to the SC border in NE Georgia
(Wilkes/Elbert and possibly Lincoln Co's.) This Wiley L. Casey b 1826 was a
Baptist minister so maybe he was asked to be a co-administrator because of
that role and not necessarily that he was related. I suppose every Casey in
the south was not necessarily blood kin to other Caseys! But it surely has
kept me going for quite a while, wondering about why he would've been an
estate administrator for Willis P.
Willis seems to be a popular name amongst earlier Caseys. The earliest
Willis I know of is the one born in Pasquotank Co., NC in 1745 (per NC Bible
records).
It seems that the Willis Casey who m. Hannah Inman 31 Dec 1822, in
Williamson Co., TN with "Irey" Casey, Bondsman was the same Willis Casey
found later in Tippah Co. Mississippi censuses and who is buried in Benton
Co., MS. Both Tippah and Benton are on the northern border of MS. He was
born in SC just a couple of years earlier than the Willis who went from
Spartanburg to DeKalb AL.

So Willis Casey proves a will for Moses Casey. Is this the same Willis Casey
later in Wayne Co TN.
