Anna I read the following query you posted on
Genealogy.com Casey message board. I have
some questions you may be able to help me with.
I descend from Christopher Casey b. 1754 SUPPOSELY son of Abner Casey I dont think this
is correct. Due to the fact in 1789 Christopher Casey sold land to Moses Casey and
Christopher and Aaron Casey witnessed the deal.
My John Casey son of Christopher Casey b. 1754. married Drucilla Hill dau of Henry Hill
and Alice Ridgely (Newberry Co SC where the Hills died) Christopher named a dau Keziah , a
son Hardin, a dau Cassander.
Hardin named a son John Embree Casey, my grandfather was named John Ridgely Casey the John
had to come from the Casey side. Kesiah named a son Christopher Columbus Casey, they had 2
daughters named Evaline and Cassander a son Harrison. But then Jesse Casey has in his line
a Christopher Columbus Casey also.
My question to you is knowing that there was many Christopher's which I have not found
but two in SC. Could you please tell me about your findings on any other
Christopher's.
Below in the message Heirs of Christopher Casey, dec'd. Legal Heirs and
Representatives of John Casey who died intestate--
does this mean John Casey had a son Christopher Casey and a son John Casey Jr.? (Heirs of
Christopher Casey descendants and the Legal Heirs of John Casey does this mean some where
not in the state of SC.)
We know that Christopher Casey b. 1754 died in 1840 Cole Co MO he leaves a probate but
does not mention any children.
also we know he was in the 1800 Lincoln Co KY census. Also Kesiah m. in Lincoln Co KY as
did Hardin Casey. Sometime before 1824 he left Warren Co KY to MO. Cassandra m. John
Churchill Gordon in Christian Co KY I believe. Those families left KY to MO. Kesiah to
Montgomery Co MO and Hardin and his father to Jefferson City MO. Cassandra and John C.
Gordon also migrated to Jefferson City Mo. The Gordon and Casey's were part of the 37
original settlers to Jefferson City MO. Kesiah Casey Cooley was one of the first white
families into MO.
John Casey and Drucilla Hill did not leave SC until say 1805 left there to Montgomery Co
IL in 1830 lived in Warren Co KY for 20+ years sold township plots in Martinsburg KY which
is no longer there.
I know I have given you alot to digest here but this is the 1st I have read where John
Casey son of Abner had a son Christopher Casey if I read the following post correctly.
I have sent a copy to my cousin Diane and the Casey Mail List which hopefully will digest
some of this also. There has been much handed down over the years from snail mail,
internet sources and family history books. I am trying to find the link to Christopher
Casey parents I do not believe he is the son of Abner but the grandson. I have felt very
strange that Christopher was never named by his sons but each had a John. Kesiah does name
one son after her father Christopher , the John Casey's named by the sons is their
GRANDFATHER maybe the JOHN CASEY below. Cassander always had me leaning towards John
Casey in all of the Casey files I have none but Christopher and Jesse had dau named
Cassander.
It is also ? that Alfred was in Lauderdale Co AL as Gen Levi Casey's widow Elizabeth
was as was her son John A. Casey. Please note that I descend from the Duckett family also
Elizabeth Duckett Casey was my ggggg grndmother's Charity Duckett Whitten's
sister.
Your post:
Until recently I was unsure of my John F. Caseys' father.
I had proof that he was the grandson of John Casey (son of
Abner). I had the grandfathers' Will in which John F. is named, but I had failed to
get all of records when in South Carolinia.
A wonderful researcher sent the following to me:
REAL ESTATE RECORDS OF THE PROBATE COURT SPARTANBURG DISTRICT "State of South
Carolina (Writ of Summons Spartanburg District)
To Joseph Casey, Moses Casey, Mary Casey, Cassey Casey,
Jesse Casey, Jonathan Crow and Jane his wife, Moses Casey
and his wife Susannah, and Alfred, John F. and Cassander, Heirs of Christopher Casey,
dec'd. Legal Heirs and Representatives of John Casey who died intestate--
John Casey had a Will, so this should have read Testate.
I hope this will help someone as it did me. Please get in
touch if you are reseaching John F. Casey and/or his father Christopher, remember, there
were many Christophers.
I would not be able to help on any of those from which I am not descended.
