Probate book Page 85 shows Levi Casey sold to Elizabeth Woolsey 338 and a
quarter acres of land,in the Hiwassee district of Roane Co. Acknowledged by
Levi Casey on the 8th of Sept. 1838.
Levi Casey sold 160 acres of land in the Hiwassee District to John A. Barnard,
acknowledged by Levi Casey also (his father or him?)
John Casey sold to Elizabeth Woolsey 38 acres of land in Hiwassee District on
Sept 8, 1838, John Casey also sold to John A. Barnard 252 acres of land in
Hiwassee District, on Sept 8, 1838
page 88, James Ellison to William Bailey, 2 tracts of land in the Hiwasse
District of Roane Co. In all was for 72 acres of land , and was acknowledged
by Lewis Burris , Sheriff, on Oct. 4, 1838.
These families (and others I'm sure) left for Missouri (the Ozark region)
shortly after the sale of their property.
At least 2 of James brothers stayed in Tennessee , although they did move from
Hiwassee District. They were Henson Ellsberry Ellison who married Jane Casey,
(they had no children), and Robert Ellison, who in 1840 census had a household
of 11 people, with no slaves. I believe a sister Elizabeth Ellison who married
Thomas Richardson, Sept 30 1811 may have gone with the Casey's and Ellison's
to Mo.
