Hi Listers,
I'm noticing a lot of Caseys in the southern areas of the US but all (that I'm
aware of) of my clan settled in New England. I don't know exactly when my Eugene
arrived but I have his marriage record of 1871 (Rockland, ME) and all that follow. I am
told that he was ~ 13 when he left Co Tipperary.
As frustrating as it is, be glad that some of you have records dating back to the 1700s.
Good luck,
Scott

I might as well throw my Caseys in here too:)
My John Casey cannot be found so far through documentation, just family
lore, he was a sail maker and came to America to "keep from fighting for the
British against America". Wife Jemima, no nothing more, the rest of our
story can documented.
This couple had a son in America in 1762 named Dempsey Casey. This family
settled in Norfolk, but can only find Dempsey and his family. Dempsey Casey
was a Baptist Preacher in Norfolk. He married Elizabeth Crafts/Crofts,
daughter of Thomas Crafts of Portsmouth Va.
Deeds show that Dempsey and Elizabeth lived in Moyock Currituck Co. NC.
Dempsey died in 1814. Will filed in Currituck.
I have the Will of a Pasquotank Co. NC John Casey married to a Dorcas
Pritchard. Will in 1790 speaks of his sons Dempsey, William and Arthur and
daughter Page.
My Dempsey Casey son of John Casey named his first born son after his father
in law Thomas Crafts and his second son William born 1794. Another son born
in 1806 was named William.
There is a William Casey listed in the Currituck Co.NC census record in 1810
but cannot connect with this Dempsey or prove either or both are the sons of
Pasquotank Co. John Casey.
Hope some of this information helps another.

Hi, Caseys....
I´m a Casey spelled with a K since the late 1700s and have spent a good
deal of
time searching for my family as they don´t fit the MD or SC bunch,
either. It turns out my James Casey/Kasey, according to family lore, may
have been a deserter from the British Navy and came ashore, with others, in
the Norfolk, Hampton area of VA. He then traveled across VA, first landing
in Boutetot Co. and then in Bedford Co., where he bought land. He was
originally from Ireland. This was a few years prior to the Rev War and he
did fight with the Bedford militia. He, of course, had a son named John, bu
t I know he's not yours.
Now, to John Caseys. In looking for my James, I found at least one John
Casey who
was a mariner on the coast of NC. There were also some John
Caseys in the Isle of Wight Co. VA at that time and they're still there. I
don't think they're of the Abner bunch but they could well be.
Just thought I'd toss this out. I know how frustrating looking for Caseys
can
be!
