Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

In FTM, under FILE, go to PREFERENCES, look for REFERENCE NUMBERS. Also, use
the Help file and look up "Reference Numbers."
I am used to FTM, and it sends GedComs easily. I love the way I can get a
Book together and also have the pages numbered with an Index to help someone
find all the individuals. I don't use the individual numbering system, and
have far too many families to go back and do it now, but for someone starting
out, it would be handy.

I bought that program and found it so complicated and aggravating, that I
took it off my machine, however I have seen other people that seem to like
it. If you haven't bought yours yet, I will sell mine to you cheap. I now
use Personal Ancestral File (PAF) which I love, It is the easiest that I have
ever found and you can download it on the net for free.

I use FTM and love it. I had the old PAF and it was OK, but the FTM has it beat.
But, I hear that the new PAF- the one anyone can download on line for free is good,
but I am happy with my FTM 7.0. However, I miss one thing ...the each-person
numbering system for PAF. It there any way to put Numbers with/for each person with
FTM. I have FTM 7.0 so maybe the newest FTM would include numbers.
Would appreciate any info I can get. Thanks, ed

I have had Family Tree Maker for 4 years and have upgraded each time it was
available. I think it is easy to use. I have bought several CDs and find
these useful and easy to use. I don't know if Ancestry CDs are compatible.
From time to time I have seen Family Tree Maker for sale in department stores
with several CDs included in the package for a good price.
I am curious about family tree maker software. Does anybody use it? Have you
found useful in research? How does the subscription work for getting info
from genealogy.com? Appreciate any advice. Thanks!
