The Rolls were also taken so The Indian People who were "removed" could
recover some of the value of the lands that were taken, by getting other land
in Oklahoma, and also money. Some of the people on the rolls (about 17 roll's
all together) were Choctaw, Seminole, and Creek as well as other tribes, but
it doesn't show on the rolls anywhere that they were not Cherokee, I don't
think; could be wrong about that!
Bonnie
Wanda there are no Coes, a lot of people were not going to claim being Indian
or part Indian, because of the way they were viewed at those times, So it is
not unusual to be hesitant to claim ancestors that were not even citizens. (
isn't that a joke).

I am a decendant of the Casey's of Cedar County Missouri would be
interested in exchanging information with you.

The Dawes/Guion Miller rolls are the Cherokee rolls where they "registered"
the People so they could rightfully say "We are of the Cheerokee People."

The Dawes, etc., rolls are rolls of Cherokee Indians, before and after the
removal of Cherokee from TN. Al. GA. and several other states, "the trail of
tears " some Cherokee were removed "voluntarily" as early as the late 1700's.
but the one of that most people remember is the one of 1838, this is when my
ancestors Ellison's and Casey's left TN. and moved to MO. I don't know if it
had anything to do with the removal or not, but it sure is coincidental. My
Casey is the John who married Anna Turner. Their daughter married James
Ellison and their daughter Jane married his brother.
Thanks so much...as you may knoe, every bit is a very big help..Joe
